Develop your puppy's brain and social skills with a special class for puppies under 18 weeks of age and their families. THIS is the time to introduce your puppy to everything he or she will meet in his/her lifetime. Your puppy will meet other dogs and people and learn how to greet politely. And it is also the time when puppies are most easy to train with basic behaviours such as sit, down and come. Give your puppy a head start on life! Got or getting a NEW PUPPY? Watch this great video on socialization: click hereBasic Obedience: Mondays 7 pm starting January 23 $150 Develop a dog you can live with and enjoy! Basic obedience commands (sit, down, stand, come, attention, etc.) are taught. Leash walking and recalls (coming when called) are focused on. Fun agility games help with handling and confidence. Proof of vaccination or titres required. Sport Foundations: TBA If your dog is a future agility, flyball or obedience star, you need to get a head start on all the necessary basics for developing your dog. Learn to play focus games, teach drive building exercises, correct tug work, retrieving, targeting and body awareness for your dog. Intermediate Obedience (Manners and Sport Prep): Mondays 8 pm starting January 23 $150 Continuing with obedience with emphasis on recalls, leash walking and stays. Shaping exercises to develop timing and observation skills. Plus, exercises for Canine Good Neighbor test, Agility and Rally-Obedience. Proof of vaccinations or titres required for new dogs. Intro to Rally-Obedience: TBA Learn the basics of this fun new sport which emphasizes cooperation between dog and handler. Heeling and Novice level exercises are covered. Advanced Rally-Obedience: Drop-in sessions beginning Thursday January 19 for Novice and Advanced/Excellent Trial Prep 8 to 9 pm $20 pp Get your Rally champion ready to trial. Practice patterns and courses available. Canine Nosework - Beginner: Sundays at 2 pm starting February 5 for 5 weeks $110 The hot new game for dogs of all types and abilities. Teach your dog the basics of scent detection. Searching drive and technique developed and introduction to (legal) scents for competition or fun games. Accommodations are easily made for differently abled, shy or reactive dogs. All breeds and ages welcome. No handling experience needed. Use your dog's favourite treat or toy to reward finds and learn how his amazing nose works! Canine Nosework - Advanced: Sundays at 3 pm starting February 5 for 5 weeks $110 Refining search skills, teaching the Alert, introducing distratactions and developing room and vehicle search techniques. ![]() SEMINARS AND SPECIAL COURSES Reactive Dog Training Group Dogs with previous class or private lessons (contact Karin for an interview if you have NOT had a previous class or training session with DogSmart) are welcome to join our working group of reactive/aggressive/fearful dogs to carefully and positively desensitize them to their triggers and develop confidence and trust. Sessions will be held once or twice monthly (holidays excepted) throughout the spring and summer. Most classes will be in Holland Landing with some field trips for additional exposure.
